Mission, Vision, and Values

AT ALDERSGATE:

We HONOR elders and are committed to creating and fostering diverse, caring communities where everyone has voice and value.

ALDERSGATE VALUE STATEMENT:

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

We are an inclusive organization that values the richness of diversity and allows each individual the opportunity to contribute their gifts in significant ways to the success of the organization and the betterment of our community.

A STATEMENT FROM THE ALDERSGATE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ABOUT DIVERSITY, INCLUSION and EQUITY:

Aldersgate is located in the uniquely diverse East Charlotte Community. In 2016, the Board of Directors at Aldersgate engaged to develop an organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategic plan to be implemented and evaluated ongoing. Our organization is committed to embracing diversity and treating everyone with dignity and respect, and to support an inclusive culture. The ultimate goal is to make Aldersgate more equitable for elders we serve, staff, and board members by fully embracing all dimensions of diversity including race, age, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status, and other facets of life that make our community unique.

Philanthropy

A Culture of Philanthropy

Beyond the outer beauty of the Aldersgate community lies the inner beauty of a generous culture. We believe that a strong sense of community starts with the cheerful spirit of giving.

We are naturally invested in community and proudly celebrate more than 70 years of living our Mission: We honor elders and are committed to creating and fostering diverse, caring communities where everyone has a voice and value.

“Let each person give according to what is in their heart!”

2 Corinthians 9:7

You play an important role in fulfilling our Mission by supporting Aldersgate’s giving opportunities

Give Now

Guardian Angel Fund

Supporting this fund allows you to be a “Guardian Angel” for our residents who experience financial hardship through no fault of their own. This resident financial assistance serves those who may outlive their resources and allows them to live with peace of mind and dignity. There are several ways you can contribute to this vital program. Donations can be set up monthly and made year-round. We also ask you to consider a gift above and beyond for our Mother’s Day Offering and through the Angel Tree Offering during Christmas and the holidays.

Urban Farm

Now is your chance to be a part of the development of the Urban Farm at Aldersgate. The urban Farm will be a fully operational farm with learning lab possibilities located in a regional food desert.

Horizon Fund

Aldersgate is thoughtfully growing and always seeking to enhance the lives of the elders we are proud to serve. By giving to the Horizon Fund, your gift directly supports the greatest needs of our organization and aids the continued development of our community to ensure every day is the best possible day for our residents.

Community Beautification

Sponsor a shrub in our rose garden or a bench in honor or memory of a loved one while at the same time contributing to the beautification of our campus.

Legacy Society

Donors who make planned gifts to Aldersgate will be inducted to our Legacy Society and honored at our annual luncheon. Planned gifts can be made through a will, trust, estate plan, fully paid life insurance policy, or gifting all or a portion of refundable entrance fees.

Hero Fund Campaign

In the spirit of generosity and love on which Aldersgate was founded, we’ve created the Hero Fund to let residents, family members and friends personally thank our team members and frontline staff who are going above and beyond the call of duty during COVID-19. A quick and easy donation form is available at AldersgateUniversity.com/HeroFund.
