A STATEMENT FROM THE ALDERSGATE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ABOUT DIVERSITY, INCLUSION and EQUITY:

Aldersgate is located in the uniquely diverse East Charlotte Community. In 2016, the Board of Directors at Aldersgate engaged to develop an organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategic plan to be implemented and evaluated ongoing. Our organization is committed to embracing diversity and treating everyone with dignity and respect, and to support an inclusive culture. The ultimate goal is to make Aldersgate more equitable for elders we serve, staff, and board members by fully embracing all dimensions of diversity including race, age, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status, and other facets of life that make our community unique.

The Mission and Vision of Aldersgate is Both Rewarding and “Awarding.”

The week of May 15, Aldersgate Executive Leadership went to the LeadingAge NC annual conference with the usual goal of joining informational sessions and sharing ideas with industry experts. As a highlight of the event, there was an awards luncheon recognizing individuals and programs deemed “exceptional.” Aldersgate proudly received four of the nine awards presented!

Our immediate past Board Chair William Springs was recognized for Excellence in Governance; David High received the Excellence in Leadership Award; our summer reading and Y camp was recognized for Excellence in Community Service and our Leadership Care Team program received the Excellence in Customer Service award. It was such a humbling and proud moment for Aldersgate – validation of our ongoing efforts to support our Vision with actions, not just words. 

VISION: We will strive to give the elders we serve their best possible day, each day, by creating fulfilling life experiences while partnering with others to form vibrant communities.

In a note to staff, Suzanne Hodge Pugh, Aldersgate CEO, said: “I could not be prouder of our board of directors, staff and, of course, the elders who support the community initiatives we undertake as well raise the bar for our programming and care. What amazing people you all are who make this happen every single day. What a blessing.”

Of course, this is just one exceptional week in years (and years) of exciting milestones within our seven-decade history. Stay tuned for more news and celebrations coming from Aldersgate.
