Mission, Vision, and Values

We HONOR elders and are committed to creating and fostering diverse, caring communities where everyone has voice and value.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

We are an inclusive organization that values the richness of diversity and allows each individual the opportunity to contribute their gifts in significant ways to the success of the organization and the betterment of our community.

Aldersgate is located in the uniquely diverse East Charlotte Community. In 2016, the Board of Directors at Aldersgate engaged to develop an organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategic plan to be implemented and evaluated ongoing. Our organization is committed to embracing diversity and treating everyone with dignity and respect, and to support an inclusive culture. The ultimate goal is to make Aldersgate more equitable for elders we serve, staff, and board members by fully embracing all dimensions of diversity including race, age, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status, and other facets of life that make our community unique.

Honoring Elders For 70 Years.

While our campus and amenities have evolved since our humble beginnings, our mission remains steadfast: We honor elders and are committed to creating and fostering diverse, caring communities where everyone has a voice and value.

Sunday, June 3rd, we are pleased to kick off a week of festivities surrounding this amazing milestone. There is always something interesting, creative, cultural and fun happening on and around our beautiful 231-acre campus. Although this week is best described as “a true blast from the past.” A snapshot of events includes a celebration of our East Charlotte heritage with “Cultural Day,” featuring live entertainment, desserts and cocktails. We are also having a retro Game Show Day – friendly competition knows no age! We’ll celebrate our staff for a full day and end the week with a Big Band Gala.

At Aldersgate, we consider ourselves blessed and unique. Our campus is the largest greenspace in Mecklenburg County. We have called this place home since 1948, first known as the Methodist Home. It was founded to offer respite for the windows of reverends. Over the years, our space and place has grown to offer the most modern amenities and state-of-the-art short-term and long-term care available.

One of our defining differences is that Aldersgate is not a national chain operated remotely. Our leadership puts our elders, staff and community first. Residents get to know and form a bond with everyone from their housekeepers, landscapers and security to our President & CEO, Suzanne Pugh. This is a warm home where individuals are greeted on a first-name basis, Of course, the longevity and benevolence or our team has everything to do with the kindness of the people we have the pleasure to serve.
