About Us

We’re a diverse tapestry of people, place and purpose

Aldersgate is not one place, but many. Throughout our hundreds of acre campus and 73-year history, Aldersgate continues to evolve, just like the elders and communities we honor and serve.

We celebrate the past with our heritage in the Methodist tradition, and we welcome the present and build toward the future with bridges between generations, faiths, sexual identities, races and cultures.

Aldersgate is not one place, people or idea—but many.

Our mission

We celebrate and respect the value of each individual within an inclusive and vibrant Aldersgate community.

Our vision

Living your best possible day.

Serving with Compassion

Each individual’s lifestyle is respected and enhanced, and informs the delivery of our services and options. We provide a quality experience that focuses on each individual’s needs and expressed desires across all elements of care and well-being.

Living in Faith

We are an organization in which faith guides our decisions and actions.

Diversity, Inclusion and Equity

We are an inclusive organization that values the richness of diversity and allows each individual the opportunity to contribute their gifts in significant ways to the success of the organization and the betterment of our community. We will engage people of different thoughts, lifestyles, skills, talents and resources in creating communities and services.

Respecting independence

We embrace elders for the contributions they make in the fabric of our culture. We are an organization in which the worth and significance of all elders—and the world of aging services—are given a strong voice of advocacy in all corridors of power, influence and decision-making.

Practicing Stewardship

We are an organization in which the highest principles of stewardship - accountability, generosity and sustainability - inform our relationships and actions.

Building Meaningful Connections

We will join in partnership with our neighbors to positively impact our community. We build upon the cumulative gifts of collaboration through cultivating and sustaining relationships. We engage all stakeholders in creating opportunities to better serve their lives, families, homes and the aging community.

Acting with Integrity

We govern with integrity, lead with compassion, operate soundly and serve with authenticity. We will demonstrate integrity by doing what is right even when no one is watching.

Striving for Excellence

We achieve excellence by continuously raising our goals, expectation, boundaries and potential. We attract and retain team member talent by encouraging leadership and personal development, cultivating a distinct culture of rich communication and instilling a deep connection to its mission, vision and values.

New horizons

Valuing Diversity, Inclusion & Equity
Since Aldersgate is located in the ethnically and culturally diverse East Charlotte Community, Aldersgate Leadership is committed to infusing greater diversity, equity and inclusion in our strategic planning across all aspects of the organization. We embrace diversity, treating everyone with dignity and respect. We support an inclusive culture that honors all voices. We work toward creating a more equitable future for our residents, local businesses, community and team members.

Our ultimate goal is to make Aldersgate richly diverse in its residents, team members, and board members and fully embrace the many dimensions of diversity, including race, age, religion, color, ethnicity, sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, disability, culture, socioeconomic status and other characteristics that make our senior living community unique. As a certified SAGECare Platinum-level organization, we train our teams and executives to become culturally aware allies so they can better serve our LGBTQ residents.

Being Anti-racist
Aldersgate is committed to being anti-racist. That means abandoning the role of bystander and engaging in listening, learning and acting in equitable ways to support people of color in the ongoing struggle for racial justice. We will strive to identify and dismantle inequitable systems to benefit our elders, team members and community. Visit our Anti-racist page for educational resources or to listen to our podcast.

Transparency in Coverage
Transparency is important to us. The link below leads to the machine-readable files that Aldersgate has made available in accordance with the federal Transparency in Coverage Rule. These files include negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine-readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data. We invite you to learn more.
